A key component of the reboot was to begin publishing all its titles "day-and-date" digitally, meaning that they would be sold online at the same time and for the same price as they were in retail stores. Two years on, print comics are celebrating their best industry-wide sales in a decade, and digital comics have established themselves as a small but complementary force. "The triple digit growth slope's not as steep as when we launched," said Jim Lee, co-publisher of DC Entertainment, "but we're having tremendous success with books like the Injustice game tie-in." Another side of the business you’ll need to understand is the three varieties of intellectual property ownership: The first two are occasionally blended together. I read through both scripts and have quite a few thoughts, but I want you to know that I’m giving critique because I want your skills to improve and feel you’re capable of learning from the feedback rather than taking it personally. Tastes vary and what works for one person won’t necessarily work for another, but getting feedback and deciding what criticism is valid for yourself is key Screamland Issue 1 (Image Comics - June 2011). To service the growing network of comic-book stores, Pacific expanded its distribution nationwide, after raising $200,000 by closing its four San Diego retail locations and selling off inventory. The Schaneses' rise in the industry put them atop a brand-new distribution network that would be called the "direct market," i.e., comic publishers bypassing the traditional distributors and making direct sales to comic shops through independent distributors like Pacific download. I’m pretty sure stores like Isotope, Bergen Street Comics, Chicago Comics and Secret Headquarters would argue that comic book stores are still an excellent social network for comic book readers. There are still a great many wonderful shops out there and I think those shops are rewarded with a vibrant customer base who interact at store events, or even just on new comics day read Sidekick #4 online.
